Originally constructed in 1715 by french soldiers Colonial Michilimackinac was an important 18th-century French and British fur trading and military post located on the mainland near the Straits of Mackinac in present-day Michigan. Today, visitors can explore a reconstructed fort and village where costumed interpreters demonstrate daily life, military drills, trade practices, and crafts from the colonial era. Before leaving Mackinaw City, it was fun stopping by Colonial Michilimackinac to take a step back in time and experience what life was like centuries ago.
